HSS Hire has restructured its core benefits, adding life assurance, a health and wellbeing package, and changing its maternity and paternity provision.
The tool hire firm has also introduced a childcare voucher scheme and an online flexible benefits plan for its 2,200 staff in UK and Ireland. The flex plan has achieved 50% take-up since its launch in April.
Previously, HSS offered a limited range of benefits. Annie Hale, head of human resources, said: “It is part of a wider benefits review. We had a successful year last year and wanted to invest in staff.”
All staff now receive life assurance cover of three-times salary. The employer-funded healthcare scheme, provided by Health Shield, includes £35 towards dental care, £70 towards optical care, £100 towards specialist consultants, £100 towards health screening, and four free prescriptions a year.
The company’s maternity provision has been increased from statutory to 90% average salary for the first 12 weeks of leave, while its paternity pay provision has increased from two days at full pay to the first week at full pay.
The new flex platform will provide access to all these benefits in one place. It will also include childcare vouchers, provided by Kiddivouchers, a welfare helpline for all staff, and long-service awards.
