House of Fraser is looking at extending its bonus scheme benefit beyond head office staff and store managers to include the chain’s store-based sales assistants.

It is thought that the department store wants to help boost retention among this specific employee base.

In the past, store managers and head office staff have been set targets to achieve, and if reached, a bonus has been awarded. However, if the scheme is extended, it will be the first time that shop-floor staff, both part-time and full-time, are rewarded in this way.

It is thought that individual stores have been assigned performance targets linked to profits which, if met, could result in each employee receiving bonus payments of 5% of their pro-rata salary. If, however, the store’s set target is exceeded by a pre-arranged figure, it is understood that employees could stand to receive up to 7.5% of their pro-rata salary.
