Occupational health provider Healthcare RM has acquired the Worcester Physiotherapy Centre as part of efforts to tackle musculoskeletal problems that lead to absence in the workplace.

Of the referrals the provider deals with for employers, 40% relate to musculoskeletal problems.

The acquisition will allow employees to have access to treatment that is focused on teaching them how to manage their own condition, ensuring a faster return to work.

Alan Gellatly, general manager of Healthcare RM, said: “The costs of managing musculoskeletal disorders is high both for businesses and individuals, not just financially but also their effect on lifestyle.

"This acquisition is a major development for us. It will enable us to bring down those costs for [employers] and at the same time expand our network of specialists in this area.”
