The event will take place at the Forest of Arden golf course and the money raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Care — a charity chosen by Westfield. Each provider was asked to nominate a good cause to play for, with the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries’ (AMII’s) chairman, Wayne Pontin, picking the provider’s name out of a hat at the organisation’s recent annual conference.
The fundraiser is expected to raise around £3,500 for the charity, and the providers hope to make the golf day an annual event.
The golf day is the latest in a series of fundraising activities that Health Shield has participated in over the past 12 months. Earlier this year, the Health Shield team parodied the ‘Harlem Shake’ video, donating more than £1,000 to Comic Relief. Six teams of employees also completed a triathlon to raise £2,500 for Beating Bowel Cancer UK, on top of raising more than £1,500 for Chrons and Colitis UK.
