Hargreaves Lansdown has launched a smartphone app to assist employees using its corporate wrap product in managing their savings and investments.

The free iPhone and Android application allows employees to view their individual savings account (Isa) and self-invested personal pension (Sipp), as well as trade funds, shares and investment trusts, exchange traded funds and move to cash accounts.

Employees using the app also have access to research and articles on investment, news, views and tips.

Danny Cox, head of advice at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “This is a way of saying to employees: 'You can engage with your pension whether it is online or through your iPhone.'"

Tom McPhail, head of pensions research at the firm, added: “The answer to the pensions crisis lies in making it easy for employees to manage their long-term savings.

"Everyone has to take personal responsibility for their retirement provision and tools such as this new smartphone app will make it easier for that to happen.

"This is good news for employers too because the more engaged employees are with their pension and Isa, the more likely they are to appreciate the contribution their employer is making towards their long-term savings.”
