Hammonds is to introduce a salary sacrifice health screening programme for employees.
The law firm will initially launch the benefit for staff based in its Manchester office, before rolling it out to its three other UK offices in London, Leeds and Birmingham.
Staff will be encouraged to take advantage of an hour-long health check at work, which will include a comprehensive set of tests for cholesterol, diabetes and anaemia, a cardiac risk assessment, a prostate blood test for men, and a full body composition test.
As part of the session, employees will also have a lifestyle assessment and create an action plan to help maintain good health. The results can be accessed and tracked online confidentially.
Jane O’Connell, reward and benefits advisor at Hammonds, said: “We were looking for a way to provide a service for our employees to make it easier for them to stay on top of their health while at work.
“It is being delivered as a salary sacrifice scheme that should make it more cost effective. We also hope it will prove to be more convenient for our busy lawyers because the screenings are held in the office.”
Kevin Hollick, director of Screenetics, provider of the health screenings, added: “Lawyers are very busy people with little time to have health checks at their GPs.
“Our screenings only last for an hour in the office and results are available in an instant. Employees are also able to ask questions about their results there and then and discuss ways to optimise their health and stay on top of their game.”
