THE GRIMSBY Institute of Further and Higher Education is expanding its wellbeing benefits with the launch of a walking competition.

Employees will work in groups of four, with the team that covers the most miles over a ten-week period winning the competition. Each member of this team will receive a Fitbug interactive pedometer with personal online coaching system. Second prize is a free month-long membership of the institute's on-site gym.

Peter Barnard, registrar, said: "Being active doesn't have to mean going to the gym. Walking is a great way to sustain fitness so this strategy is for everyone."

Each employee who enters the Grimsby Active Staff Programme will be given a pedometer along with an information pack including details of local walks and mileage.
