Grant Thornton has launched its biggest health and wellbeing event to date, known as the Global Corporate Challenge.
Teams of seven employees will wear pedometers for 125 days and attempt to cover 10,000 steps each per day. There are 357 people, forming 51 teams, from almost all Grant Thornton offices in the UK, will be taking part in the challenge.
During the event, each team will record the total number of steps taken each day and enter them into the Global Corporate Challenge website, which converts the steps into miles travelled across the globe. On reaching each destination, the team will unlock a host of facts and figures about that region.
Margaret Bowler, head of corporate responsibility at Grant Thornton, said: "The aim is to get people to exercise more and develop a healthy habit that they can continue long after they have finished this challenge. The event hopes to encourage our hard working, mainly office-based people to get out and get active.
"There is a competitive edge to the challenge as teams can log onto the Global Corporate Challenge website to track each others progress across the globe. We are expecting some healthy competition between the teams and I'm sure this will help spur them on to reaching their daily targets."
The challenge forms part of Grant Thornton's ongoing wellbeing campaign, which was launched last year with a week of activities, including exercise classes, nutrition lessons and health advice.
