Graham Brown has retired from his role as head of people and support services at the Barnardo's after 16 years with the charity. During this time, he also held the position of pensions manager.
Brown came to Barnardo's from City advertising agency D'Arcy Masius Benton and Bowles.
His achievements led him to become a finalist in the 2008 Employee Benefits Awards in the compensation and benefits professional of the year category.
When Brown first arrived at Barnardo's in 1993, he and his team spent seven years getting the charity's defined benefit (DB) pension into shape.
Subsequently, Barnardo's has taken steps to minimise its exposure to risk. In 2007, it switched its final salary pension to a career average scheme and closed it to new joiners.
