Government to invest GBP4 million in health and wellbeing at small employers

The government is to invest £4 million over the next two years in improving health and wellbeing for staff at small organisations.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has invited small and medium-sized businesses and local partnerships to bid for a share of the Health, Work and Wellbeing Challenge Fund.

The DWP hopes the scheme will be used to fund innovative projects that improve employees’ health and welfare at work. It is aimed at local partnerships, and small and medium-sized businesses based, and trading, in Great Britain.

There will be two rounds of funding and successful projects can be awarded between £1,000 and £50,000 a year.

Local assessment panels will decide which projects will receive funding, based on criteria aimed at promoting employee welfare at work.
