EXCLUSIVE: Goodman Masson has hosted its third annual Winter Wellbeing Week for staff.

The event, which was held the week of 11 November, supports the financial recruitment firm’s internal brand, ‘There’s more to life than work’.

Guy Hayward, chief executive at Goodman Masson, said: “It is communicated in the build-up to the wellbeing week and constantly throughout the week.”

The week started with hot porridge on Monday morning for all employees. A breakfast bar, offering granola, yoghurt and orange juice, was available for the rest of the week.

On Tuesday and Thursday, Goodman Masson hosted health checks and nutritional advice. Around 30 employees took advantage of these.

“It measured body mass index, blood pressure and included body scans,” said Hayward. “There was also a half-hour presentation from a qualified nutritionist.”

The Winter Wellbeing Week also included:

  • A protein shake bar.
  • Dried fruit drops to all employees’ desks.
  • An army fitness boot camp.
  • A yoga class held one afternoon in a chill-out room.
  • Free flu jabs.
  • 50 available free massages from office massage organisation Xhilarate.

Hayward added: “On a particularly cold day, we went out to a Costa Coffee and brought back 100 hot chocolates.”

At the end of the week, Goodman Masson handed out a miniature bottle of whisky with instructions for making a hot toddy, alongside hand warmers.

Hayward added: “It is a bit of tongue and cheek, because it is not strictly wellbeing.”

Six names were also drawn out of a hat to win an afternoon off work to visit Winter Wonderland in London’s Hyde Park.

“It was a lot crammed in to the week,” said Hayward. “During the course of the week, there were emails with health tips, such as ‘Remember to drink four pints of water a day’. It was really well received.”
