EXCLUSIVE: Law firm Farrer and Co hosted its first wellness week to coincide with National Work-Life week on 24-28 September.

It rolled out a full week of activities and events for its 390 staff, including: health and wellbeing assessment by a fitness consultant, lunch-and-learn sessions, onsite Zumba classes, and webinars offered by Working Families and the Law Society.

The week also included reminders to staff about their entitlement to a volunteer day and of the firm’s wellbeing policy and existing services, such as an employee assistance programme, discounted gym membership, onsite GP, onsite massage, and onsite yoga and pilates classes.

The wellbeing week was communicated via Farrer and Co’s intranet, as well as through conversations with team managers and supervisors.

Christine Yeomans, HR manager at Farrer and Co, said: “Teaser messages were sent out the week before, which outlined the activities’ timeline so staff could book themselves on. Every day that week we published a news item on the intranet to detail what was happening.”

The final email at the end of the week asked staff for feedback and any suggestions on what to include next year.
