Something for the weekend: An annual salary of £100,000 may be enough to entice many of us to a demanding new role, but the perks offered by one family on the hunt for a live-in nanny go above and beyond this.
A couple with four children aged two, five, seven, and 15 years old are recruiting a nanny with 15 years of experience and a degree in child psychology to work six days a week, from 7am to 8pm. The hours may be longer than a typical nine-to-five role but the nanny will enjoy meals cooked by a Michelin-star chef and can make use of the family’s cars: a Maserati, Porsche, and Range Rover.
The successful candidate will also have opportunities for regular international travel, attending to the children across the family’s homes in Atlanta, Barbados, Cape Town, and London. The new nanny may be required to travel internationally up to three times a week.
There are also learning and development opportunities, with employer-paid self-defence training provided to the new employee if they are not already skilled in this area.
The children are home schooled and the nanny will be expected to support the children’s learning, which includes participating in their lessons where appropriate.
The advert, which was posted on Childcare.co.uk, also specifies that the successful candidate sign a non-disclosure agreement and undergo a two-week probation period.
The family updated the post on 25 August to note their surprise at the attention their advert had attracted. While this may have contributed to the volume of applications they have received – numbering more than 1,000 at 25 August – it appears this has not resulted in a high number of responses from candidates with the specifications they seek.
At Employee Benefits, we can see why it might be difficult to recruit someone with the required experience and appetite for the role, but hopefully the compensation and benefits package on offer will help to attract the right candidate…
