Royal Sun Alliance (RSA) Group has rolled out an eyecare scheme to its 3,000 UK employees.
The global insurer's scheme, which it piloted in May 2011 with its fleet drivers, is provided by Specsavers Corporate Eyecare.
It has been launched using a series of roadshows, which included vision screening, followed by advice on whether employees required a more extensive eye examination, which will be covered by Specsavers’ optical care scheme.
The scheme forms part of a larger road safety initiative by RSA called Fit to Drive, which is supported by Specsavers and road safety charity Brake.
Jon Sellors, group head of thought leadership at RSA, said: “We have been able to monitor eight offices, covering a total of 250 employees.
“We offered them an initial eye screening and we found that 20% of our employees had not done an eye test in 10 years. The initiative has been extremely successful.”
