Since Ernst and Young changed its physiotherapy provision for staff in July, it has had 161 referrals from GPs, 120 of which led to triage sessions.

The perk, which is offered through private medical insurance, previously directed staff to recognised physiotherapy centres, but was not managed effectively.

After a tender process, the firm selected Nuffield Health as its new provider. Staff are assessed by phone to decide whether they can be advised remotely or need to see a physiotherapist face to face.

The previous scheme was available to staff with five years’ service and those above manager grade. The new plan is available to all 10,500 UK staff.
