Barclays Investment Bank hosted its third health and wellness day at the end of May, as a way to communicate the firm’s healthcare and wellbeing benefits to its 24,000 staff.

The event, which was first held in July 2011 as part of the bank’s wellness programme Living Your Potential, is held every quarter at its Canary Wharf offices in London.

Raewyn Bates, wellness programme coordinator at Barclays Investment Bank, said: “The programme is designed around four themes: lifestyle, physical wellbeing, citizenship and mental wellbeing. These incorporate the many facets of individual wellbeing.”

The health and wellness day included: medical professionals administering free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose level checks; a registered dietitian demonstrating healthy snacks and meals; and wellness providers promoting the firm’s smoking-cessation programme, employee assistance programme (EAP), and onsite gym.

The event was communicated to staff via the firm’s intranet, health and wellness newsletters, and posters near its lifts.
