Almost half (45%) of employees at utilities firm E.On submitted new, or changed, choices in this year’s flexible benefits enrolment period.

This figure is up from 32% during the 2010 enrolment period and 21% in 2009 when the scheme was first launched.

The enrolment period, which opened in March 2011, saw 85% of staff administering for benefits via the flex scheme. An additional 635 staff joined the pension scheme and 96% of all pension scheme members remain opted in to a salary sacrifice arrangement.

All 19 benefits showed an increased take up including the most popular three: pensions, private medical insurance (PMI) and holiday trading. Over 1,200 staff chose to take advantage of the new dining-out card provided by Gourmet Society.

Ant Donaldson, senior specialist, employee benefits at E.On, said: “Our network of 80 benefits champions from across the business, our HR shared service centre, Benefex’s helpdesk and communications materials were important elements of the [scheme's] success.”
