E.ON has launched a flexible benefits scheme for 12,500 of its 17,500 employees.

So far, over 2,500 employees have signed up to the scheme, which includes benefits such as carbon offsetting, a cycle-to-work scheme, travel insurance, life insurance, dental cover and discounted retail vouchers. Employees can also opt for payroll giving, childcare vouchers and can buy or sell up to a week's additional holiday.

Employees can choose to flex up to 50% of their salary and can trade down benefits to receive additional salary.

E.ON now plans to roll the scheme out to more of its workforce.

Ant Donaldson, senior specialist for employee benefits, said: "We're delighted by the success of the scheme and we think that its popularity demonstrates our people want the option to decide which benefits work best for them. Many of the benefits can cover colleagues' family members and are designed to help our employees get the most out of their leisure time, protect their health and wellbeing and provide greater financial security."
