More than one-third (37%) of employers believe offering dental perks gives a clear return in terms of staff productivity and health.

A further third feel dental perks are especially important during an economic slowdown, according to Simplyhealth's Annual dental survey. Eight out of 10 (84%) respondents said they were concerned staff couldn't afford to maintain their oral health.

But just 56% actually offered dental benefits.

The financial sector feels the strongest about dental benefits, with 93% saying looking after employees' oral health was the employer's responsibility.

However, almost half (47%) of employers from the retail and catering sector, and from the professional services industry (43%) said it was not the organisation's responsibility.
