Less than half of employers (43%) currently offer an employee assistance programme (EAP) to their staff, while a further 5% plan to introduce one in the next year.
Some 52%, however, have no intention of providing an EAP for employees, according to the Employee Advisory Resource’s Employee wellbeing survey 2006. This also found that 23% of employers don’t offer any support to employees who are suffering from stress.
Just under half of respondents, however, offer some form of formal internal support, while 15% provide outsourced specialist support for staff suffering from the condition.
Less important to employers are supporting staff with weight loss or financial debt issues.
More than two-thirds (69%) offer no support for employees suffering with weight loss issues, whereas just 5% supply general information. A further 16% offer formal internal support, while just 4% provide an outsourced specialist support service.
Over half (53%) of employers, meanwhile, offer no support for employees suffering from financial debt issues. Some 21% offer formal internal support, while 11% provide an outsourced specialist support service, and 9% offer informal support.
