International airline Emirates has extended its pay cuts, while more employees will receive an increased reduction in salary as a result of the financial impact of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
All employees in grade four and above will see their basic salary halved from 1 July 2020 until the end of September 2020. Equivalent grades and levels will be included in these payment reductions including outstation employees.
Emirates had previously reduced pay for employees ranging from 25% to 50% for three months from April 2020, now all employees working at grade four level or above will receive the 50% pay cut.
Employees working under the grade four band are excluded from these pay cuts,
A spokesperson at Emirates said: “Regrettably the scale and impact that Coronavirus has had on the world economy and the aviation sector has led us to make another difficult decision.
"As of July 1st, a 50% reduction on the basic salary for all employees in grades four and above, including equivalent grades will take effect.
"This will also be applicable to outstation employees subject to local legislation and consultation requirements. This is never an easy decision to make and rest assured we will endeavour to treat everyone involved with the utmost fairness and respect.”
