It would appear that actor Dustin Hoffman had the last laugh when working on box office comedy hit Little Fockers.

The Oscar-winning star was reportedly able to negotiate $7.5 million (approximately £4.9 million) for just five days work after being asked to re-shoot some of his scenes.

Hoffman plays Greg Focker's father in the film which follows on from the films Meet the parents and Meet the Fockers. Ben Stiller who played Greg and Robert De Niro who played scary father-in-law Jack were paid a reported $20 million to reprise their roles in the latest instalment.

Perhaps the bumper pay packets ensured cinema audiences weren't the only ones laughing .

Paramount Pictures, which is handling the UK publicity for Universal Pictures' film Little Fockers, declined to comment.
