Employers might be surprised to discover that dental benefits are not only appreciated by the human members of their workforce.

In Australia, a prison guard dog called Axel has been fitted with titanium teeth after he shattered his real teeth while biting into his bed board.

Not only does the four-legged employee now have the perfect bite, he will also not have any problems sinking his teeth into criminals trying to escape from the prison.

Speaking to the press, veterinary dentist David Clarke said: "So much is spent on training working dogs that it ends up much cheaper to repair a dental problem than retire the dog.

"Prison dogs, police dogs, hunting, quarantine and customs dogs often suffer injuries in the course of their job."
