De Poel, a consultancy that buys labour on behalf of employers, is to move its voluntary benefits product for temporary workers online.
From this month, workers are able to sign up to the scheme online, when they will be issued with a user name and password. They will then be able to select perks online.
Through the scheme, for a weekly fee of £2.50, workers can access a range of benefits and discounts that are normally offered to permanent workers. These include personal accident cover and life insurance as well as a range of discounted products, such as home and travel insurance, and lifestyle benefits such as leisure activities and home appliances. Travel and retail discounts are also included.
De Poel is also planning to add a further perk to the scheme this spring when it will introduce access to a personal bank account with a pre-paid credit card. For a monthly fee of £9.95 workers will be able to use the perk, which is supported by Spectrum Finance.
John Simmonds, De Poel managing director, said: "Our research discovered that temps can find it difficult to open a bank account because they often rent [property] and lodge in temporary accommodation."
De Poel, which acts as a go-between for large organisations sourcing temporary staff from recruitment agencies, will offer the voluntary benefits package to workers through these agencies.
It is planning to review and enhance the perks on offer throughout this year.
