Something for the weekend…

Employers that offer workplace health and wellbeing benefits for their workforce and keen to track the latest innovations in the fitness industry should look no further than recent efforts by the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Nasa).

The agency has packed its astronauts off to space wearing new hi-tech sandals to monitor their exercise efforts.

A small monitoring device sends data to control centres back on earth to help increase understanding of the effects of low gravity on the space explorers’ bodies.

Given that stress is such a pressing workplace concern, the Nasa-designed, strap-on sandals may be just the investment that employers need to make for their health and wellbeing package.

Then they just need to decide who will monitor how active their employees are, whether in the office or at the gym.
