Conwy Council has relaunched its workplace-giving scheme to its 5,000 staff, and has increased the number involved tenfold.

The scheme, part of the national Geared for Giving campaign, was first launched in 2006 but prior to November 2009 had achieved a take-up of only five people. But a communication campaign involving visits to 10 of the council’s sites, emails and an article in its monthly newsletter saw the number of staff making donations more than double on the first day. It now stands at 50.

Donna Roberts, total reward officer at the Welsh council, said the relaunch was part of a communications drive around the whole benefits package. It also plans to launch bikes-for-work and a volunteering scheme.
