Computacenter has launched a range of new benefits to maintain its competitiveness as an employer in the IT industry.

These include critical illness cover, dental care, health screening and retail vouchers, which are all offered through salary sacrifice arrangements. Perks which are not eligible for government-supported tax and national insurance breaks, however, will incur benefit-in-kind tax reported through P11D.

Employees could sign up for the new options, alongside their existing perks, during the IT firm's election period last month. Providers of the schemes were invited to visit Computacenter's sites across the UK in order to explain the benefits to staff.

The new options were introduced as a result of feedback from staff satisfaction surveys.

All 600 of the IT firm's employee car ownership drivers will also be given driver training in the next two months to reduce the risk of accidents. Vicky Salmon, fleet ECO administrator, said: "We want to save ourselves money. If we can stop people writing off vehicles, it is all the better for us."
