Law firm Clifford Chance is to lift the freeze on salaries for London-based lawyers it imposed last year.

Clifford Chance, one of the ‘Magic Circle’ law firms, has said salaries will rise from 1 May to reflect increased seniority. In addition, the firm will be paying bonuses as part of the total reward package.

The rises mean newly-qualified solicitors could earn a salary of up to £73,000, if the firm’s maximum bonus is included.

London managing partner David Bickerton said: “These salary increases demonstrate our confidence in our London business and the value we put on the contribution of all our lawyers.”
