Cigna has launched online interactive oral health risk assessments.

By answering questions on issues such as age, their oral health routine and dental history, employees will receive a result judging how at risk they are of dental cavities or gum disease.

The results are designed for individuals to use and employees are encouraged to print out their results to discuss with the dentist. Cigna does not use or hold the results.

Kirsty Jagielko, head of product management at Cigna, said: "Tooth decay is one of the most widespread health problems in the UK and most people suffer from some form of gum disease, so we are keen to help encourage our members to think about their oral health routine and work with their dentist to make improvements.

"We are also pleased the launch of our new assessments ties in with the recent government review on NHS dentistry and its focus on preventative dentistry as a key approach to the future of dentistry in the UK.”
