Following the publication of the Leitch Report into training, the Chancellor has announced the appointment of the former director general of the Confederation of British Industry, Sir Digby Jones, to head an initiative to boost skills.
He will be tasked with urging employers to offer time off to staff to develop skills on the basis that they have a say in what training is undertaken.
