Health and social care recruitment agency Cardea has introduced a benefits scheme for temporary and contract employees.

The Mercury benefits scheme, which is provided by Asperity Employee Benefits, includes: discounts at high street retailers, such as Asda, Comet, Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury’s; training courses to improve skills; and special awards for service.

The training element of the scheme is delivered online via an e-learning firm, and offers employees courses on caring for people with dementia, food hygiene and safety, infection control, learning disabilities and mental health needs, and the safe handling of medicines.

Temporary and contract workers are issued the Mercury benefits card as soon as they register with Cardea.

Tony Woollett, operations director at Cardea, said: “Mercury will give our staff practical benefits such as discounts of up to 15% on the supermarket shop, one-off big purchases or theatre tickets.

“Most importantly, we are also offering temporary workers the opportunity to take up further training, making them even more valuable to organisations that employ them.”
