Capgemini UK has been recognised for its workplace healthcare and wellbeing policies with a Simplyhealth Healthy Workplace award.

The provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services has a number of health and wellbeing policies in place that have helped reduce staff absenteeism within the workplace.

These include a self-funded health plan, which forms part of its flexible benefits plan, which has a mental health network to provide employees with fast-tracked access to mental health treatment.

The employer, which has more than 7,500 employees in the UK, has also launched a treatment pathway that supports employees with musculoskeletal-related conditions, providing staff with access to a telephone triage service and practitioners.

Its health and wellbeing strategy also includes:

  • An online health and wellbeing portal, with a separate version for managers.
  • Free flu jabs.
  • Gym discounts.
  • Access to learning tools.
  • A free employee assistance programme.
  • An occupational health service.

Tony Deans, chief financial officer of Capgemini UK, said: “We have seen real financial returns since the implementation of our health and wellbeing strategy.

“Lower absenteeism levels can be attributed to our health and wellbeing programme, as employees have the support in place to help them to manage their everyday healthcare needs.

“Our employees place a high value on the support they receive through this programme, and it has even motivated some people to take up the challenge to be fitter and healthier by changing their lifestyle as a result of the healthy lifestyle awareness drives we’ve undertaken.

“The results I have seen have exceeded my expectations and I am truly delighted with the positive effects our health and wellbeing strategy is bringing to the workplace.”

Ruth South, employee benefits Manager at Capgemini UK, added: “I am delighted that Capgemini has been recognised for the commitment we have to the health and wellbeing of our employees.

“We strive for excellence in this area, and as an organisation we will continue to ensure that the health and wellbeing of our employees remains at the forefront of our business objectives.”
