Watt-Patrick-Bupa-2013

Bupa will put the spotlight on mental health during a roundtable discussion at Employee Benefits Connect on 27 February.

The roundtable session will aim to make delegates more aware of the impact mental health issues have on business performance and how employers can introduce a programme to reduce stigma.

Patrick Watt (pictured), corporate director at Bupa, will host the roundtable, titled Implementing an effective mental health and wellbeing programme in the workplace.

He said: “Some employers are on the journey to understand the impact of mental health.

“We can surface that and help them understand the business case for change.

“Others might be further back in the journey and don’t know where to start. We can help them.”

The roundtable will also cover:

  • How to talk openly about mental health.
  • How to manage stress.
  • Help to remove the stigma.
  • How to get executive buy-in to launch a scheme.

Watt added: “We will share best practices and find out what different employers have done at different stages.

“It’s going to advocate the time to change, and emphasis the understanding of getting a business case right to reduce stigma and to create a happy and engaged workforce surrounding mental health issues.”

Employee Benefits Connect will be held at the Westminster Park Plaza in London on 27 February.
