BuildStore is reviewing its benefits package with a view to introducing new affordable perks for staff by January 2009.

The employer is keen to enhance its benefits by offering private medical insurance (PMI), critical illness and a dental cover for its 160 employees. Although it is likely that the benefits end up being introduced will be voluntary as opposed to employer-funded, Edwards is keen to ensure that nay deals and discounts for staff are as competitive as possible.

Karen Edwards, HR director at BuildStore, said: "The key here is affordability, especially in this [economic] climate, people want to know that they are getting value for money. Most of the benefits will be voluntary I should think, depending on what we can afford we'll try to offer discounts on benefits."
