BT's carbon clubs have proposed measures to help homeworkers reduce their carbon footprint.

These include initiatives such as setting up 'communal cupboards' from which homeworkers can collect resources such as printer paper to reduce packaging.

The clubs are now preparing a business case of the proposals to present to BT's head of climate change, Donna Young.

BT has also commissioned events around its climate change agenda, such as theatre productions. Staff will be given an opportunity to attend previews of these with carbon club members receiving preferential access. Young said: "You have to make this fun; viral and creative. If you want to get the word out you have to get people engaged."

BT is also encouraging staff to cut their carbon output through 'live lightly' days, the first being on 14 September.
