Bournemouth Borough Council and the Borough of Poole Council have signed a three-year contract with a new healthcare provider as part of efforts to reduce sickness absence.
As a result of the arrangement with Atos Healthcare the local authorities' 11,700 employees will have access to a range of occupational health services, which include management referrals, vaccinations and health promotion.
Tracey Comper from Bournemouth Borough Council said: “Bournemouth Borough Council is committed to promoting the health and wellbeing of our employees and providing a supporting framework to reduce lost time due to sickness absence. We will also look to Atos Healthcare to support us in identifying proactive approaches to managing absence.”
Gary Gear, general manager for occupational health and primary care services at Atos Healthcare, said: “We will work with the council to play a key role in looking after the well being of all employees to minimise absenteeism and further boost productivity.”
