Global engineering, consulting and construction company Black and Veatch is considering reviewing the vendors that provide perks for its flexible benefits scheme in a bid to improve service levels and administration.

The firm wants to shop around after its staff and HR department reported problems with administration, payment of invoices, communication, and reconciliation and registration processes.

Black and Veatch is also considering introducing total reward statements next year to ensure employees understand the value of their total package. In April this year, its flex provider, Vebnet, installed a new user-friendly online platform, offering detailed policy information about benefits online.

A voluntary benefits scheme, provided by Next Jump, was also added to the platform. So far, 50% of the firm's employees have signed up for the scheme.

Black and Veatch introduced flexible benefits for its 900 staff in 2009 to harmonise benefits and reward after it acquired Gleeson Construction Services in 2006. Perks offered through the scheme include pension, share scheme, private medical insurance, dental cover, health screening, the ability to buy and sell holiday, childcare vouchers and bikes for work.

Sarah Brown, HR manager for Europe at Black and Veatch, said: "We has a high response rate because we linked flexible benefits to people accepting their new terms and conditions."
