BGL Group is promoting its wellbeing programme by offering employees the opportunity to take part in a charity trek in China.
The trek, which will take place in April 2012, aims to raise over £100,000 for the insurance firm’s charity partner, Marie Curie Cancer Care.
As part of fundraising efforts for the trek, more than 200 employees participated in a ‘bike and blend’. The employees paid £1 each and spent 60 seconds pedalling on a ‘blender bike’, creating nutritious smoothies and raising money for charity.
The wellbeing programme is designed to provide employees with a range of benefits that fall under the banners of My Health, My Fitness, My Happiness, and My Relaxation and Energy.
Other initiatives include free onsite health checks, subsidised onsite osteopathy or sports massages, and workshops on wellbeing topics such as sleep, happiness and vitality.
Michelle Neale, BGL Group employee and blender-biker, said: “The health and wellbeing team at BGL are constantly surprising employees with useful and fun initiatives to help raise awareness.
“As a member of the trek team, I am so thankful the money raised will go towards our fundraising total.”
