Law firm Bevan Brittan will hold a review meeting at the start of 2007 to assess whether to launch flexible benefits by September.
In October, the company introduced a platform called My Benefits, which allows staff to access a voluntary benefits scheme and to view online total reward statements. It also allows staff to take an additional five days unpaid leave, subject to operational requirements, and has launched salary sacrifice on pension contributions into its group personal pension (GPP) plan.
Diana Palmer, HR director, said this helped to strengthen its case for flexible benefits. “We have introduced an opportunity to take an extra five days leave, albeit unpaid, but obviously that gives us a potential platform for strengthening our hand if we go down the full flex route.”
She added that flex would also enable staff to take benefits which were most relevant to their lifestyles if the company decided to introduce such a scheme. “We recognise that people have different requirements and if something is provided that is not particularly relevant to an individual then it would make much more sense if they can flex or trade within certain parameters for things that suit them at a particular time.
