Former US president George W Bush reportedly turned down a job at Dallas-based hardware store Elliots despite the fact the firm promised his role would be a lot less stressful than his last job and would also include a generous employee benefits package.
If the former president had taken on the part-time position, he would have been entitled to an employee discount and his own car parking space for his security.
Store manager Andrea Bond reportedly claimed Bush came into the store, saying he was looking for a job. Elliots reacted quickly to his request, drawing up a job offer while he chatted with customers wearing the name tag 'W'.
