BBC Resources staff have voted in favour of a new pay and pensions package that will bring them into line with the rest of the BBC.
The Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU), which supports the entertainment and leisure industries, has reported that 77% of BBC Resource union members have voted in favour of the plan, which means that staff aged over 45 years who are made redundant will receive enhanced pensions. This will continue after 2011, when the BBC's current pension augmentation package is due to be scrapped.
It also means that staff will receive a 2% pay rise from August. A single level of unpredictable working allowance will be issued to new joiners, which means they will have a set percentage added to their salary each month. Existing staff will be unaffected by the change.
