British Airports Authority (BAA) Pension Trust, acting as trustee of the BAA pension scheme, has appointed Xafinity Paymaster to provide third party administration services for its defined benefit (DB) pension scheme which covers over 20,000 members.
Until now, BAA has administered its pension scheme in-house. As part of the contract a number of BAA staff will transfer to the employment of Xafinity Paymaster.
The final decision to outsource the administration of the scheme to Xafinity came down to the trustees’ desire to provide an improved high quality service for members at a cost effective rate.
Gordon Dewar, chairman of the BAA pension scheme trustees, said: “This will be a win-win-win relationship for the trustees, members and BAA.
“Members will receive an improved service with web-enabled access to their benefits and improved communication and access to scheme information, and the trustees will retain control of the running of the scheme at a reduced cost.”
John Campbell, financial director at Xafinity Paymaster, added: “Xafinity Paymaster’s reputation for administering large, complicated pension schemes is bolstered further by this most recent appointment from BAA.
“We are looking forward to working with the trustees and transferring the BAA staff across to Xafinity where we are able to provide excellent pension administration services but also rewarding career opportunities for the people who are coming across to work for us.”
