Aviva has added to its group personal accident, sickness and business travel policy.

The 'People and Places' policy is designed to offer employers financial assistance to pay for temporary staff when permanent employees are absent.

The additions will cover areas including facial disfigurement, dental and optical expenses, and the risk of suffering a coma while abroad.

The policy also covers a number of business travel situations that can result in increased costs, including: closure of airspace, kidnap and ransom, nuclear, chemical and biological incidents, and war in a foreign country.

Lisa Wild, underwriting manager, speciality lines at Aviva, said: “Our revamped 'People and Places' insurance policy will go some way towards alleviating these concerns facing organisations, with extended cover introduced following feedback.

“The policy will be beneficial to organisations with more than five employees and bespoke cover is also available for more complex cases."
