Atkin Trustees has launched a new pension scheme management service designed to free employers up from the main responsibilities entailed with scheme governance.

The service called the Scheme Management Outsourcing model will see Atkin Trustees take over full responsibility for the governance of an organisation’s pension scheme, as well as the co-ordination of services and providers.

Richard Bryant, head of trustee services at Atkin Trustees, said: “It is nothing new to say that the challenges faced by pension schemes seem to grow day-by-day. The landscape is constantly changing and the pressures of costs, time and decision making - without the right knowledge base - is a huge burden, particularly for smaller scheme trustees.

“The needs of the small scheme are the same as those of large schemes but they do not have the same resources. We have recognised that gap in the market and this model aims to relieve those pressures and create a healthy fund for the company and the members.”
