The American Embassy is considering launching an employee assistance programme (EAP) to its 400 London and Belfast-based employees later this year, following a benchmarking exercise.

Although the final decision on whether to go ahead is dependent on overcoming current financial restraints, the firm believes that such a move would bring it into line with similar organisations and confirm its commitment as being an employer that looks after the welfare of its staff.

Jon Lloyd, compensation and benefits manager, said: "Having examined the use of EAPs among comparative organisations, we have decided that it’s a positive programme that can not only help employees in certain situations but it can also emphasis our commitment to look after our staff."
