Alfred McAlpine's building facilities management division is looking to introduce a new pay and reward structure in order to deliver consistency across the business. Newly-appointed reward manager for the business services division, Aidan Crossey, said: "One of the key things is to see if there is any possibility of streamlining our current grading and terms and conditions."
Because of the way the business has grown, many staff have joined and had their varying terms and conditions protected under Transfer of Under-taking (Protection of Employment) regulations.
Reward is also to be benchmarked against rivals with the aim of making the firm more attractive as an employer. An employee assistance programme may be introduced to provide extra support for 4,000 staff. Crossey is also contemplating one of two possible long-term initiatives for his division: either introducing voluntary benefits alongside up to four core benefits, or adding a flexible benefits scheme.
