Something for the weekend…
As Christmas draws nearer, it’s not uncommon to treat employees to a Christmas party, followed by a lunch the day after to revive tired workers or maybe allow people to head home a little early. But what other seasonal perks are employees enjoying?
A survey by HR services organisation The Curve Group found that 62% of respondents had taken time out at work to shop online for Christmas presents and more than 50% had gone shopping on the way back from a meeting. Respondents had also saved money by sending their Christmas cards through the work post room.
The annual Christmas party was also found to bring benefits of its own with one in five respondents admitting they had ended up in a relationship with a colleague or even their boss after the party.
Perhaps not quite as beneficial, a third of respondents said they had to take the day after the party off sick.
