Ever wondered what employee benefits you would receive if you worked for a super-rich employer? Users of the website Reddit have been sharing their experiences of working for the rich and famous, and enjoying perks such as six days off a week and trips in private jets.

One story shared on the website concerns a man whose wife bought around 100 sheep just for fun and had a second house for his German Shepherd dogs to live in.

The comment read: “I worked for a guy who had some pretty major stakes in the oil business, he was pretty cool, but very weird about his money. His entire basement was full of survival supplies for when the world ends…he once asked me to price out installing a helicopter landing pad in his backyard in case anyone ever has a heart attack at one of his dinner parties…he had a second house on-site, which he used to house his German Shepherds.”

Another comment explains that a billionaire boss gave a woman who gave birth to her baby two month’s prematurely all the time off she required, as well as forking out for the entire medical process, which came to over $100,000 (£659,000).

Another user shared their experience of working in an upmarket apartment complex where they were given plenty of gifts and leftovers. The user also explained that they once met a guest with a love for jets. The worker said: “I was talking to a guy about why he drives a beat-up car compared to everyone else, it was like a 1998 Yukon, and he said his thing was jets. Then proceeded to take me to his private hanger after work, showed me his three private jets and offered to fly me anywhere, anytime I needed, just ask.”

Another worker had several experiences working for super-rich families on their yachts. The comment said: “[For] the first family I worked as the chief officer on their 120-foot-long motor yacht that had six guest suites and four crew cabins. The funny thing is, they only used their yacht one day a week for lunch on Sundays. Every Sunday they would show up with their entourage of butlers, maids, and private chefs to do a three-hour lunch cruise.

“[The] best part of the job was I had six days off a week, paid a full salary with benefits, lived on the yacht so had free room/board with one of the private chefs making us every meal.”

It continued: “The biggest time I ever got chewed out on the job was when I filled their dog’s water bowl with tap water and was promptly and forcefully told that if I ever gave the dog anything other than Fiji bottled water I would need to find another job.”

We at Employee Benefits are wondering how many other mega rich employers dish out off-the-wall and generous benefits…
