Something for the weekend…
Firearms officers at Scotland Yard might be using one of the most unusual ways to de-stress that we’ve come across at Employee Benefits, after starting a bee-keeping association.
The Met Police Beekeeping Association says tending to bees is ideal because it is a ‘relaxing and rewarding hobby’, as well as providing honey for the force.
The Metropolitan Police awarded the new club a grant of £525 to pay for two hives and protective suits.
The interesting club was announced in the police force’s in-house magazine and, while it might be a different way to de-stress than the usual gym or yoga meditation benefits typically offered by employers, it is definitely one way to help Scotland Yard’s armed officers keep calm on the trigger.
It certainly takes the sting out of a stressful operation.
