National Rental Inspections recruits with brutally honest job advert

Something for the weekend: Australian firm National Rental Inspections has posted an online advert for the role of rental property inspector in the state of Victoria and raised a few eyebrows with its list of requirements.

Founder Steven Uspensky wrote the advert and job requirements, which include having a car that works 96% of the time, being able to pay to put fuel in it, having a licence to drive it, being willing to leave the suburb in which they live in for work, owning an iPad that works, having a minor interest in real estate and having internet that works faster than dial-up speed.

Uspensky then goes on to state that potential employees should have a sense of humour, be willing to listen and be good with people. He said: “My clients are very important to me, so it would be nice if you could be nice to them. While you are talking you are not listening. I know this but it’s my business, so you must be willing to listen to me and learn, I know everything already.”

While the job requires no prior experience, prospective applicants must “be able to alphabet, sentance [sic], punctuate and grammar way better” than Uspensky, who states that he does not need to becuase he has staff to do these things.

The advert encourages people over the age of 40 to apply, so a win for inclusion there. It also stated: “Most importantly, this is not school hours. It is however suitable for mums, dads and people with no kids (lucky you!) as we can work around your family, but you cannot have three months off over Christmas and two weeks off every other month for school holidays.”

Uspensky ends by stating that the firm is actually “very awesome to work with/for and has an amazing team”.
